Proper weld up of tank
heads to shell sheets and other housings is crucial to product quality
and safety. A perfect butt weld is necessary to insure proper mating
of tank heads to their associated assemblies. Many of our customers
choose to receive their tank heads joggled. Joggling is a process
that helps facilitate fit-up and welding of tank heads to shell
sheets. Joggling also helps form the gap necessary for the butt
weld required by ASME and DOT pressure vessel codes. The joggling
profile and weld requirements are outlined by figure UW-13.1
and Part UW-Welded Vessels in the ASME Boiler and Pressure
Vessel Code, Section VIII Division 1, the latest revision of
which is available only from The American
Society of Mechanical Engineers. Compco Industries, through
diligent quality control efforts, strives to produce a quality product
that ensures safety, reliability, durability, and code compliance.
All tooling and material is closely monitored and adjusted to ensure
that Compco produces products that meet or exceed all relevant code
requirements and design specifications. |
